My name is Blake Keeffe and I have been a Master Certified Technician for Harley-Davidson for the last ten years. I have been riding motorcycles for almost 20 years now. On October 9th, 2019, I was on my way home from work when another driver made an illegal U-turn in front of me causing me to T-bone him at 50 miles an hour.
I was in the hospital for about a month, as it was a very bad deal. The doctors were not sure if I was going to be able to walk again. Both of my SI joints in my back were broken and had to be bolted shut. The whole front of my pelvic girdle had to be bolted shut as well. I suffered internal bleeding, blood transfusions and nerve damage. At the time, my fiancé and I were scheduled to get married while I was in the hospital and were not sure what our life would look like moving forward.
I was out for about a month but during this, we were referred to Michael Nysather through the motorcycle community. He stepped in and because of the communication he always kept with my wife on my case, she gained the strength she needed to allow her to focus on my physical recovery. Mike was coming down to my house, which was almost an hour away from his office and talked me through the steps moving forward. He gave us the utmost amount of confidence in ourselves and allowed us to focus on my treatments.
In many of ways, Mike became part of our family during that time. Today, he continues to be a part of our family even after two years. The amount of compassion, friendliness, and joy that he has been able to bring to our lives through this horrendous situation has elevated the entire experience to the point where it has become bearable. He never failed to remind us that everything was going to be okay.
