Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, one of the best venues for the performing arts in the western United States, presents a wide range of international dance, music, theater, and film each year. The Center’s rental program makes it possible for businesses, nonprofits, and private citizens to stage a wide variety of events, from large-scale trade exhibitions and festivals to intimate concerts and theatrical plays to private meetings and wedding receptions.
Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts has been a forum for diverse ideas since 1975, and its performances have served as a catalyst for community building via the celebration of artistic quality and increased sensitivity to other cultures.
Over 250,000 people are served each year at the Center’s more than 1,000 performances, educational programs, festivals, and other events, all of which contribute significantly to Scottsdale’s outstanding quality of life and reputation as a dynamic arts destination. Around 20,000 kids and adults participate in the Center’s annual teaching and outreach programs.
Most shows are held at the 853-seat, state-of-the-art Virginia G. Piper Theater, which is renowned for its warmth, acoustics, and comfort. The adjacent Scottsdale Civic Center Amphitheater can hold 1,800 people, and the smaller Stage 2 can hold 137. The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts can be found on Scottsdale Civic Center Park, a 21-acre urban oasis close to the city’s Old Town and art areas.
Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA), and Scottsdale Public Art are all run by Scottsdale Arts, a non-profit organization contracted by the City of Scottsdale. The State of Arizona and the National Endowment for the Arts help support Scottsdale Arts through the Arizona Commission on the Arts.
Scottsdale Arts’ mission and varied programming are supported by the store’s multiple awards. Artist jewelry, modern home and office furnishings, one-of-a-kind works by Arizona artists, global crafts manufactured with fair trade and upcycled/recycled materials, music, books, greeting cards, and inventive toys are just some of the items for sale. Members save 15% on all purchases and don’t have to pay sales tax. Packaging and delivery of presents is also offered. Store @ The Center hours are 10am-5pm Monday-Saturday, 12pm-5pm Sunday, and extended hours for most evening events.
