Butterfly Wonderland

The mission of Butterfly Wonderland, the largest butterfly conservatory in the United States, is to foster an appreciation of the natural world via conservation education and protection of the butterflies and Scottsdale’s rainforests. It has a stunning indoor conservatory where hundreds of butterflies flutter freely in a habitat reminiscent of a tropical rainforest in the middle of the Arizona desert.

The Butterfly Emergence Gallery, Butterfly Café, Spineless Giants exhibit, Rainforest Reptile exhibit, Butterfly Treasures gift shop, Edible Insect Station (a “bug vending machine”) that educates visitors about entomophagy (the consumption of insects), and the Rainforest Birds exhibit round out the attractions. The doors to Butterfly Wonderland open at 9 a.m. every day. You are free to take pictures or video.

The realm of butterflies and other rainforest animals at Butterfly Wonderland takes visitors of all ages back to the Amazon. Explore the butterfly conservatory at your own pace, see a compelling 3D film on the Monarch migration, see chrysalises transform into butterflies in real time, learn about exotic reptiles found in the world’s rainforests, and even try some delicious edible insects!

The Butterfly Wonderland can be found at Arizona Boardwalk, a one-of-a-kind entertainment complex in Scottsdale, Arizona area that features a wide variety of restaurants, shops, and attractions (including the Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, OdySea Aquarium, Laser + Mirror Maze, Butterfly Wonderland, Surprise Your Eyes, Pangaea Land of the Dinosaurs, Polar Play Ice Bar, and VR Extreme).

During the year, the outdoor courtyard plays host to a number of free events and activities perfect for the whole family. Arizona Boardwalk features free parking and no entry fees. The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Native Community is home to Arizona Boardwalk, which can be found at 9500 E. Via de Ventura, Scottsdale, Arizona 85256, and is a part of the larger Talking Stick Entertainment District.
